Eating at Chipotle
Eating at Chipotle played a big role in my efforts to get healthier. A lot of the food is organic and it's spicy. Spices have medicinal effects.
But Chipotle is not organized like most fast food or fast casual places and most people seem to have a hard time navigating how best to order what they really want there.
Their menu lists a price for "tacos" but it's for THREE tacos at a time. You can order just one or two and they will charge you less, so it is possible to eat there on a budget.
I used to routinely order a single taco plus a water cup when money was super tight.
Other budget-friendly items include: small cheese quesadilla, small bag of chips. The small chips should come with one side of salsa. I like to get the corn salsa.
This is a transcription of an old receipt from a few years back:
If you have never been to a Chipotle, the menu can be a bit confusing. It lists what a burrito costs or what THREE tacos cost, etc. You will be facing kind of a buffet of standard ingredients, like various meats, two types of beans, fajitas (onions and peppers), various salsas, cheese, guacamole and lettuce. But you can order any of those items put together any way you want.
The rice contains cilantro. This can be a good thing and can help you move metals out of your system or it can be a bad thing and can stir up metals and cause trouble.
If you are vegetarian, you absolutely can get vegetarian meals at Chipotle. I think you can even get vegan meals there. I recall them updating their bean recipe some years back to make it vegan.
If you are living out of hotels, it can be great to get some extra chips, little tubs of beans and corn salsa and what not to stick in the fridge and have a hearty late-night snack. Cheese quesadillas also do reasonably well eaten cold later, but burritos and tacos not so much (in my opinion -- feel free to see it differently).
If you are working on your pH balance, ask for a bowl of lettuce as one of your sides. If you order enough food, they may not even charge you for the lettuce.
When I was really sick, Chipotle was one of the few places I was willing to order beef. The quality of the beef is really high and the beef barbacoa was something I could eat even when my teeth were so bad I couldn't chew steak.
Pro tip: Don't get beef and cheese in same meal. Eating calcium and iron together in the same meal is not a good idea. They interfere with each other and you don't get much out of either nutrient. High calcium and high iron foods should be eaten at least thirty minutes apart.
